'Acacia' is the second painting in a series called 'The language of flowers" based on the victorian form of communication using botanicals. Often referred to as "Floriography", the language of flowers uses plants and flowers to convey specific messages and sentiments assigned to each piece of foliage. Originating in the courts of Constantinople in early 18th-century Turkey, this form of communication soon spread all over Europe and Asia, and is now used in hundreds of cultures around the world. 'Talking bouquets' were created to send wordless letters between friends and lovers in secret using floral code.
